Lucuma
Lucuma is a powder derived from a fruit native to the Andes often used as a natural sweetener. It contains soluble and insoluble fiber, which is good for the gut!
Lucuma also contains antioxidants (polyphenols and carotenoids) known for anti-inflammatory and heart healthy properties. Its low glycemic index may improve insulin sensitivity and prevent blood sugar spikes (as opposed to sugar or other sweeteners).
Moringa
Moringa is a medicinal tree that grows in tropical areas, and its benefits might surprise you. It contains 7x more vitamin C than an orange, and 15x more potassium than a banana!
It also contains calcium, protein, iron, and amino acids, which helps the body heal and build muscle. Its antioxidants that help protect cells from damage, and may lower blood pressure and cholesterol.
Moringa’s anti-inflammatory properties may heal stress and reduce inflammation, and may reduce diabetic systems due to the insulin-like proteins found in moringa. Plant chemicals found in the leaves might also help the body process sugar better!
Spirulina
Spirulina is an algae that helps protect cells from damage.
It’s rich in iron which aids physical growth, neurological development, production of hormones, functioning of cells. Spirulina also contains B vitamins: contains a variety, but specifically vitamin B2 aka riboflavin, which helps cells grow, develop, and function, and turns food eaten into energy. Its magnesium maintains normal function of nerves and muscles, and formation of bones. It also contains copper, a mineral involved in energy production and immune system support.
Chlorella
Chlorella is a freshwater algae chock full of vitamins and minerals.
Its B vitamins aid in growth and function of cells, Vitamin K which supports bones and creates blood-clotting proteins, and vitamin E, a powerful antioxidant that protects cells from oxidative damage.
It also contains choline which aids in preservation of memory, and is a complete protein, meaning it contains all 9 essential amino acids (plus vitamins, minerals, and antioxidants).
