Beauty is holistic: it’s the energy that glows within us, and the energy we put out into the world. It’s what we put in our body and on it.
To enhance our beauty energy, we need to release what no longer serves us. We habitually add more and more to our lives until they’re overflowing with items, activities, beliefs, and routines. Releasing something brings us more space, more freedom, and more energy. We’ve spoken with our Spoon Crew — our team, our friends, and some of our favorite wellness gurus — to discover what they’re releasing.
This week, modern mystic Ruby Warrington, founder of The Numinous, co-founder of Moon Club, and author of Material Girl, Mystical World, shares what she’s letting go of, and why.
The Physical
What physical item are you throwing away?
As we move into fall, it’s time for my next wardrobe cleanse. Three or four times a year I take everything I’ve outgrown (in an energetic sense!) to my local Buffalo Exchange, and swap all the old items for new (to me) items for the new season.
The Expectation
What expectation that you put on yourself are you letting go?
This summer I learned a valuable lesson about not having to always be busy to be productive. I’m letting go of my need to always respond to emails in real time, and the expectation that I can only manifest what I want with consistent effort. I‘ve found that the more time I spend not doing, i.e. being with myself and cultivating my own energy, the easier it is for me to spot and pursue the opportunities that are actually in alignment with my path.
The Habit
What long-lasting habit or movement are you putting a stop to?
Overeating in the evenings. This was inspired by Nicole, actually! I started using her Soup Cleanse Cookbook last winter, and found that by eating soup for my evening meal and having my main meal at lunchtime, I sleep better and have more energy throughout the day. [This is a popular habit amongst the Spoon Crew — either cooking soups from Nicole’s book or using our plant-based Bowls for dinner. You’ll sleep better if you have a lighter evening meal! — Ed.]
The Visual
What image or picture makes you feel beautiful, and why?
Images of my 2 year-old nephew. He looks so much like me — but like a little boy me. It’s made me appreciate the way my genetic makeup has expressed itself in my physical form at different stages of my life. I’m excited to see who in my family I look the most like next!
