Beauty is holistic: it’s the energy that glows within us, and the energy we put out into the world. It’s what we put in and on our body.
To enhance our beauty energy, we need to release what no longer serves us. We habitually add items, activities, beliefs, and routines to our lives until they’re overflowing. Releasing something brings us more space, more freedom, and more energy. We’ve spoken with our Spoon Crew — our team, our friends, and some of our favorite wellness gurus — to discover what they’re releasing.
This week, Jonna Piira, the CEO and Founder of Kali, an organic tampon and pad subscription company, shares what she’s letting go and why.
The Physical
What physical item are you throwing away?
I try to live a minimalist lifestyle. I believe in quality, not quantity. Everything in my space has a place and purpose. I run from clutter because I want to live in a positive, free-flowing environment. I recently donated used clothing and shoes to a homeless shelter.
The Expectation
What expectation are you letting go?
I’m letting go of putting unrealistic expectations on myself. This allows me to set more achievable goals.
The Habit
What long-lasting habit or movement are you stopping?
I’m decreasing my carbon footprint by cooking meals instead of ordering in, and walking rather than jumping in a cab. These changes have positively impacted my life and wellbeing in many ways. I forgot how much I love cooking and inviting friends over to share my creations. Also, walking has allowed me to explore the city more.
The Visual
What image or picture makes you feel beautiful, and why?
Flower arrangements that I receive or put together myself make me feel beautiful. I love the energy they bring into my home. They’re a beautiful reminder of the love I have for myself and the love I receive from others.
