Fridge Voyeur is a virtual visit into the chill zone of the Spoon Crew — our team, our friends, and some of your favorite wellness gurus. We may eat a lot of plants, but you better believe there’s a whole lot of variety, and a bit of naughty, going on behind closed doors. We know you want a peek ;).
This week, we’re peeking into the fridge of private trainer, yoga instructor, and Splendid Spoon ambassador (& model!), Lauren Schramm.
Splendid Spoon: Hey Lauren! Tell us a bit about yourself.
Lauren Schramm: Hi! I’m a fitness professional and wellness enthusiast living in Brooklyn with my mini Aussie Shepherd Dog, Finn. I love doing a range of physical activities — flipping tires, Olympic lifting, and performing reiki. I try to carry this flexibility over to my dietary choices. I’ve also recently begun to venture into teaching retreats (vacation + wellness is a magical combination!).
SS: What are the 5 staples you can’t live without?
LS: Kombucha, (frozen) red grapes, cold brew, ground flaxseed, and lentils/lentil soups.
SS: What’s the weirdest thing in your fridge?
LS: Face masks. They feel so much more refreshing when they’re chilled. Especially those under-eye gels.
SS: What’s your fave sweet and what’s your fave savory?
LS: Açai bowls are the perfect amount of sweet for me, especially when topped with some crunchy granola. And I recently stocked up with Splendid soups and smoothies and am loving the Blueberry Acai! As for savory, I always have olives and pickles on hand to snack on between meals.
SS: If you were one thing in your fridge, what would it be?
LS: My Aloe Vera water — bright and colorful, pretty obscure, and good for you in small doses.
SS: What food do you turn to when you want something comforting or nostalgic? Although we eat to keep our bodies strong and healthy, food also connects us to our past, to friends, and to different times in our lives.
LS: Growing up, my mom always pushed drinking milk on my sister Allison and I. She loved it, and could go through a gallon a week all by herself. I, on the other hand, would only be able to stomach it if there was some chocolate syrup mixed in. Now, I’ll opt for either almond or coconut milk, and I love post-workout chocolate milk. When it starts to cool down, I treat myself to a mocha every once in a while!
